SAFFORD – Would you like to take part in beautifying the Downtown Safford area?

Local artist Brandt Woods, in conjunction with Gila Valley Made, are inviting the community to join in painting their “insta-mural” wall going on the outside of the business at 526 W. Main St. in Downtown Safford.

The event takes place this Friday, Feb. 18, and Saturday, Feb. 19, and runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Woods is in the process of painting his 31 Murals on Main Street and has five sections set aside for this event. One section will be utilized by artist Mandy Matthews, and the four other sections are designed and will be outlined by Woods. The public will then be invited to join in the fun by painting parts of the four murals designed by Woods at his direction.

The event is a “come-and-go” as you please and Woods encourages the public to come to see the work take shape.

“Don’t be a stranger,” Woods said. “Come and join the fun. You don’t even have to paint, just stop by and check it out.”

The murals are meant to be an eye-catching addition to the side to the Gila Valley Made building to entice highway traffic to pull over into Downtown Safford, take a picture in front of their favorite mural along the building for their “Instagram” feed, and maybe walk around Downtown Safford awhile and see what all it has to offer.

Brandt said once this event is complete, he will repaint a separate QR code mural in the same location and have completed 20 of the 31 murals he has planned for Downtown Safford.
