SAFFORD – Denise Benton has been selected as the Executive Director for United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties effective May 15.
Originally hired in February 2022 as the Grant Manager, Benton replaces Adam O’Doherty who served as the CEO of the organization from 2019 until accepting a position as CEO with United Way of Northwest Indiana.
Benton holds a bachelor’s degree in education and retired in November of 2021 after 21 years of federal service. She previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties from 2020 to 2021 and looks forward to the opportunity to represent the organization and to serve the communities in Graham and Greenlee Counties in this new capacity.
“It is my honor to serve Graham and Greenlee counties as Executive Director for our organization,” Benton said. “Without our donors, we cannot be a part of all of the great things the nonprofit organizations and educators are doing in our communities. Thank you to Freeport-McMoRan, the Freeport employees, the City of Safford, and all of our donors. We are only the stewards of these funds and could not do what we do without your generosity.”
