On Friday, April 26, the staff from the Safford Unified School District came together and held their third annual Staff Fun Run at the Safford High School football field.
It was the hottest day so far this year, but as a district, they accomplished 489 laps around the field. Perhaps a more impressive way to represent the total would be to say SUSD walked 121.5 miles. That would be from Safford to just 10 miles short of Apache Junction. Way to go SUSD!
The school with the highest in attendance had the opportunity to wear jeans during the following week. For the third year in a row, Dorothy Stinson held on to the title with their three-peat win but tied this year with Ruth Powell School.
There was a fantastic turnout with 102 staff members coming and participating. A.J. Taylor ruled the track with 22 laps, followed by Clay Emery and Kami Dolan coming in second with 20 laps each.
SUSD would like to thank their great sponsors for the event: The Wear, Scott Family Chiropractic, Karen Ramirez-Ragland, Sawdust Jr., OHS, EAC, Hope Massage, Trophies ‘N Tee’s, 8th Street Athletic Fitness Club, JD3 Fitness, Kainoa’s Hawaiian Grill, Fizek Fitness, Walmart, Gear Up, Gila Valley Crossfit, Sodalicious, La Casita, Allen Theater, Lee’s Rite Way, and McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory for their wonderful and generous prizes offered to those who participated.
