Pima and other local teams head out to volleyball playoffs

The state volleyball playoffs begin in earnest on Saturday in the Valley area. 

On Friday, the No. 5 Pima volleyball team (10-0 region, 10-1 conference, 21-9 overall) will head out of town at 2:30 p.m. to travel to Glendale. The Roughriders will take on No. 12 Kingman Academy (6-4 region, 7-4 conference, 19-7 overall) at Mountain Ridge High School at 22800 N. 67th Ave. in Glendale on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

No. 11 Morenci (8-2 region, 10-3 conference, 14-5 overall) will also play at Mountain Ridge High School on Saturday, taking on No. 6 Veritas Prep (4-2 region, 12-4 conference, 14-5 overall), starting at 1 p.m. 

In 3A action, No. 3 Thatcher (10-0 region, 15-1 conference, 26-6 overall) will face No. 14 Odyssey Institute on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. at Marcos de Niza High School at 6000 S. Lakeshore Dr. in Tempe.
