Morenci schools begin 2023-24 year Wednesday

The additions number three for Metcalf Elementary School, five for Fairbanks Middle School, eight for Morenci High School, and one for the Accommodation School. MORENCI – The start of the 2022-23 school year gets underway today, July 26.

Although a large number of students wishing to attend Morenci High School registered in mid-month and it continues for those that did not.

The new school year begins for the district’s schools, with 17 teachers, three for Metcalf (grades 1-4), five for Fairbanks (5-8), eight for the high school (9-12), and one for the accommodation school filling in the vacancies.

The “new kids on the block” are Allison Reigel for 3rd grade, Janel Cervantez and Angela Hernandez for 4th grade;  Cassidy Corbell for 6th grade, Jasmine Aguinaga, Scarlatte Ludvingson and Christy Parrott for 7th grade, and Manny Manuz for coding; Tony Aguinaga (welding), Tessla Aguirre (Spanish, counselor), Richard Davis (math), Yadira Fierro (business), Esther Kessler (English), Denita Marble (culinary arts), Sabyn Martinez (math), Tawnya Shy (English), and Melanie Hilton (accommodation).
