SAFFORD – It goes without saying, but one should be wary of whom a person sends nude photographs of themselves.
A Safford man learned that lesson the hard way when he sent nude pictures of himself to a woman he didn’t know. The man used Kik Messenger, a free instant messaging service from Kik Interactive, to send the pictures. Kik has been under fire previously for being a popular application for child predators who use the app to “exchange child pornography, send explicit messages or arrange meetings with minors,” according to a New York Times article.
The man informed police that he sent the pictures to a woman who went by the name Tracey Alex on her account, and afterward, she demanded he send her money to keep the pictures private. The man advised that the woman told him if he didn’t send her money she would post the pictures on social media apps.
A Safford officer advised the man contact the social media apps the woman said she was going to post the pictures on and see if they could do anything for him.
