Staff Reports

GRAHAM COUNTY – The Bureau of Land Management has temporarily closed the hot tubs at the Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area southeast of Safford due to flooding-related issues from the recent rains.

Additionally, the onset of the monsoon has flooded Tanque Crossing on Haekel Road. While the road is not technically closed, a barricade has been placed at Tanque Crossing alerting motorists of the flooding.

The Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area features 2,000 acres of sand dunes for off-road enthusiasts and allows for camping.

The BLM said the hot tubs will remain closed until the rains subside and work can be done to repair the flooding issues.
