Head-on collision on Highway 191

GRAHAM COUNTY – Authorities are investigating a severe collision on U.S. Highway 191 south of Safford that resulted in three occupants being taken to the hospital. 

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the crash was listed at about 11:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes near W. Lebanon Road. A viewer on the scene advised traffic was being diverted onto Lebanon Road due to the crash.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash took place around milepost 116. The DPS reports there are no fatalities at this time, and three vehicles are involved. Multiple ambulances have been seen taking people from the area. 

The Graham County Sherriff’s Office is assisting DPS at the scene, and Undersheriff Jeff McCormies advised there was one occupant in each vehicle and that they were all transported by ground ambulance with no apparent life-threatening injuries at this point. A helicopter that was initially called was canceled from the scene.
