THATCHER – On Tuesday, the Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation announced a $12,000 donation to the Eastern Arizona College Foundation for student scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year, making possible four full-tuition and two book scholarships. Michael Andazola, Lupe Munoz, and Bob Rivera, board members for the Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation, presented the donation to EAC President Todd Haynie and EAC Foundation Executive Director David Udall.

“On behalf of Eastern Arizona College, I want to thank the Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation for their generous support,” said President Haynie. “Each year, more than two hundred students are able to attend EAC because of donations like this. This gift creates opportunities, renews hope, and helps change student lives.”

Currently, four students – Dakota Ybarra, Cailin Larson, Deziree Juarez, and Aubrey Pace – are attending EAC with funds raised from last year’s Hispanic Heritage event.

“The Board officers wish to thank the many individuals and businesses who supported this year’s Hispanic Heritage events,” said Michael Andazola. “So many community members supported the kick-off celebrations, the car show, and the dinner and recognition event. Their generosity is what makes these scholarships possible.”

Students who would like to apply for this and other donor-funded scholarships at EAC are encouraged to complete the scholarship application in their Gila Hank accounts. Priority awards will be given to those who complete their applications by Dec. 31.
