SAFFORD—The Arizona Community Foundation of the Gila Valley will present two educational workshops focused on Charitable Gifts: Insights, Issues, and Opportunities on Wednesday, March 21. The morning session will provide planned giving resources for nonprofits and the afternoon session will focus on topics of interest to professional advisors serving Southeast Arizona.
Jonathan Tidd, a renowned lawyer whose practice specializes in advising on charitable gift planning and the tax and legal implications of gift planning, will lead the discussion for both workshops. He will be joined by Judi Smith, CFRE, the Arizona Community Foundation Director of Planned Giving, who has over 30 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, much of it in the area of planned giving.

Charitable Gifts: Insights, Issues, and Opportunities for Nonprofits will take place on Wednesday, March 21 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the City of Safford Annex Building, 808 S. 8th Ave. Refreshments will be served. Topics for discussion include opportunities for charitable gift planning, how the tax law might affect donors in 2018, approaches to utilize stock, and how to ask donors for gifts. Charitable Gifts: Insights, Issues, and Opportunities for Professional Advisors will take place on Wednesday, March 21 from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of Safford Annex Building, 808 S. 8th Ave. Lunch and networking will take place between 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. The workshop begins at 1 p.m. and will cover strategies for asset funding, appraisal rules, and gift dates, and the challenges that exist in charitable gift planning.
