GILA COUNTY – If you’re between 17-19 years old and love the Tonto National Forest that surrounds Globe-Miami, apply today for the Youth Conservation Corps crew that begins work Monday, June 3, outdoor summer job program co-sponsored by the Gila County Board of Supervisors.

YCC participants earn $600 per week learning new skills through hands-on projects within the forest and local communities; a day’s work can range from rebuilding trails in the Pinal Mountains to habitat restoration, fencing on public lands–invasive weed removal; and sometimes even archaeological preservation.

Plus a bonus education award of $1,459 for those who work the full eight weeks! There are also a few select crew ‘mentor’ jobs that pay $675 per week – plus their own education award at the end of the field season. Read more and apply at azcorps.org/member-positions.
Questions? Please call Ari at (928) 607-9250 or email Ari Abrams at aabrams@conservationlegacy.org.

Unlike some YCC assignments that require camping, the summertime Globe-Miami crew will work daytime, returning home each night – after an initial orientation week camping near Flagstaff.

Youth Crew members live at home and work Monday through Friday on projects in the surrounding national forest, with preference given to local applicants.

Who is an ideal candidate? One willing to work outside, who loves to be outdoors – and is drawn to project work, and with a passion for conservation and nature. Being ready to try new things and learn new skills, working as part of a team towards a common goal – and being ready to have fun – are also traits of an ideal YCC crew member.

It’s valuable work! Crews could be building trails, treating invasive species, doing habitat enhancements, wildfire mitigation, or other projects on public lands.  Apply online and read more at azcorps.org/member-positions.
