GRAHAM COUNTY – A woman who crashed her car into a canal in the area of Bowie Avenue and Graham Cemetery Road/Solomon Road on March 9 faces possible DUI charges.

Tyler Reed was arrested for DUI after law enforcement located her in a gray Volkswagen GTI that had left the roadway and crashed into a canal. Deputies were dispatched to the area at about 9 p.m. after another traveler reported that a gray car had passed her at a high rate of speed and then crashed into a ditch.

Reed allegedly told investigators that she was eastbound on Solomon Road at about 45 MPH when she approached a 90-degree turn she didn’t notice. Instead of following the road to the north, Reed continued eastbound through a field and then onto Solomon Cemetery Road, where she eventually crashed into a canal. The posted speed limit for the turn is 15 MPH, and Reed said she was unfamiliar with the roads.

Reed reportedly had the odor of alcohol emitting from her person, according to the report, and allegedly admitted to drinking three hard-alcohol beverages mixed with Coke.

Reed wasn’t injured in the crash but was wet from previously exiting her car without realizing she was in the middle of a running canal.

She was placed under arrest for DUI and a blood sample was taken at the Thatcher Police Department. She was then released and picked up by an acquaintance. Possible DUI charges are pending blood test results from the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab.
