SAFFORD – Walmart has security cameras throughout its store to stifle shoplifting attempts. The one place it does not have surveillance, however, is the one spot where an employee placed his mode of transportation to and from work.

Authorities were dispatched at about 6:31 p.m. on Oct. 28 to Walmart at 755 S. 20th Avenue regarding the theft of an employee’s bicycle.

The employee said he left his gray, Roadmaster mountain bike at the bike rack near the general merchandise entrance when he went to work just before 8 a.m. When he finished his shift at 6 p.m., he noticed his bicycle was no longer there.

The employee said he rides his bike to work every day but when he reached out to store security he learned that while the store has cameras in the parking lot, it didn’t have any surveillance video available near the bike rack.

The employee was given Victim Right’s paperwork and the case remained open due to no leads on who stole the bicycle.
