Safford seeking bids for 20th Avenue traffic signals

Staff Reports

SAFFORD – After not having any bids on the project last year, the city of Safford is once again seeking bids for the installation of traffic signals at the intersections of 20th Avenue and Relation Street and 20th Avenue and Golf Course Road.

Currently, the Relation Street intersection is a four-way stop and the Golf Course Road intersection only has a stop sign for traffic on Golf Course Road. The city has been in the process of widening 20th Avenue from Relation Street to Golf Course Road for roughly two years.

The project will include the foundations, electrical wiring and connections to power the signals, video detection for street signals, street sign installation, controls, and luminaire installation. The city of Safford will supply the poles for the traffic lights.

According to the bidding document, the project is expected to be substantially complete in 120 days and ready for final inspection in 150 days with a completion deadline of July 25, 2023. Additional days may be given based on material delays.

Those businesses interested in bidding on the project should contact Andi Lindsey at alindsey@saffordaz.gov. Bids will be received until March 9 at 2 p.m., when they will be publicly opened and read. Bids for the project may be given to the Safford City Clerk at Safford City Hall, 717 W. Main St. Safford, AZ, 85546.

A pre-bid conference and site inspection will be held Monday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. at the city of Safford Mesa Yard Office Complex at 405 W. Discovery Park Blvd., Safford. The meeting will allow phone conference if requested.
