SUPERIOR – The Arizona Department of Transportation reminds drivers to plan for the full closure of US 60 between Superior and Miami on Thursday, May 16, for blasting operations as the US 60, Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project begins.
The full closure of U.S. Highway 60 will continue, when required, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through November. The closures will be between mileposts 227-243.
DETOUR: Eastbound US 60 drivers will use southbound State Route 177 through Winkleman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers will use southbound SR 77 through Winkleman to northbound SR 177. Due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m.
Westbound US 60 from Miami to Magma Mine Road, near milepost 230, will remain open for local traffic only.
Motorists should plan for:
- Lane restrictions and speed reductions in the work zone.
- A 12-foot vehicle width restriction to be in place. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.
For more information about this project and to sign up for notifications about this project visit azdot.gov/US60QueenCreekBridgeProject.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down, use caution and merge safely when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
