Police on lookout for suspect in vicious assault at Circle K

SAFFORD – Authorities are on the lookout for Jacob Vaughn, who is wanted for questioning regarding a vicious assault committed at the Circle K at 1542 E. U.S. Highway 70 on Wednesday, March 20.

According to a  Safford Police report, an officer was dispatched to the scene at about 5:33 p.m. regarding two men fighting. 

Upon arrival, multiple witnesses described a scenario in which Vaughn had struck the other man, knocking him unconscious. Vaughn then continued to strike the man as he lie motionless on the ground, according to the witnesses. 

A woman who was with the victim said Vaughn was her ex-boyfriend and that she is now romantically linked with the victim. She said Vaughn was lying in wait by the gas pumps for the victim and “sucker punched” him when they were walking to her car. 

The victim was transported to the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center by paramedics with Lifeline Ambulance for treatment. At the hospital, he advised he didn’t remember anything that happened but added that Vaughn had been threatening him for a while. 

As of the last publicly released information on the case, the police department had not yet had contact with Vaughn.
