GILBERT – A man who cut his ankle monitor and fled to Mexico to avoid child sex charges has been apprehended south of the border and brought back to Arizona.
Randall (Randy) Todd Arrington, 61, of Pima, was scheduled for a final settlement conference hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court on Oct. 21 before his trial on child sex charges. The charges relate to the abuse he allegedly perpetrated on his victim between the ages of 5 – 13. The charges stem from a Sept. 26, 2023 arrest.
Arrington never made his hearing, however, and his ankle monitor reportedly last showed him at “Top of the World” between Superior and Miami off Highway 60.
According to online court records, Arrington was living in Queen Creek when he was charged with 10 counts of sexual conduct with a minor, five counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual abuse, and one count of public sexual indecency.
Arrington was free on a $250,000 bond and had reportedly moved back to Pima to a residence off 140 South. According to a neighbor’s comments to local police, Arrington was last seen hooking up his vehicle to a camp trailer and allegedly said he was going camping.
On Monday, Nov. 11, Arrington was found by Mexican authorities in Mexico and taken into custody. He was then turned over to the Gilbert Police Department.
“Of all of the dangerous fugitives the U.S. Marshals arrest, the individuals who are charged with crimes against minors are especially important to us and our communities,” said U.S. Marshal for the District of Arizona Van Bayless in a statement. “The tireless work and cooperation between local, federal, and international law enforcement agencies ensured those who violate the trust of children are held responsible for their actions.”
In addition to his original child sex abuse charges, Arrington will also face new charges for absconding.
