Phyllis Ruth Damron Montierth, age 65, passed away on July 20, 2021, in Safford, Arizona. She was a long-time member of the community since 1976. She was born on Nov. 2, 1955, in Ajo, Arizona. Phyllis was born to her two loving parents, William Ellis and Ellen Ruth Damron. She had four siblings; Bill, Edwin, Tom, and Randy.
In her early years, she graduated from Ajo High School, Class of 1973. She then continued her education at Eastern Arizona College and graduated in 1975. The following year, she married in the Mesa Arizona Temple to her eternal companion, Robert Neal Montierth, on March 12, 1976. Robert and Phyllis started their beautiful family of five children; Robert, Sabrina, Sandi. Krista, and Kami.
Phyllis is a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served all her life. She served in many callings but mostly in her beloved Relief Society. She served for several years as a ward missionary and found so much joy working in the temple. She enjoyed her church, her children, her grandchildren, racquetball, card games, and serving everyone she met. Phyllis loved the Gospel, her family, and she made the world a better place just by being in it.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Neal Montierth; her children and their spouses, Robert Montierth (Alisha), Sabrina Freestone (Scott), Sandi Huang (PJ), Krista Heaton (Kyle), and Kami Crowe (Reggie); her siblings and their spouses, Randy and Liz, and Bill and Karina, and 17 grandchildren.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Ellen, and her siblings, Edwin and Tom.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20th Street Chapel, Safford, Arizona.
