GRAHAM COUNTY – The aurora borealis – otherwise known as the northern lights – were visible in Graham County Friday night and may make a repeat appearance Saturday and Sunday nights as well.
Due to increased solar activity and mass coronal ejections from the sun, geomagnetic storms that create the auroras have been produced and began hitting the Earth on Friday night. The storm could cause communication problems.
The best time to view the aurora borealis is between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. while looking toward the North Pole. The lights appear in the sky as pink, purple, or orange.
