SAFFORD – Authorities were dispatched to the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center (MGRMC) at 1600 S. 20th Ave. at about 11:56 a.m. on Thursday after the facility received a bomb threat via e-mail.

The e-mail stated a bomb was inside the building and would detonate if a ransom was not paid. The threat also said someone was watching the facility and to not inform the police or face the consequences.

Multiple officers met with hospital personnel and the hospital was searched by authorities, department heads, maintenance and security.

The FBI was contacted regarding the situation and authorities were informed that the same e-mail had been sent to multiple businesses throughout the nation as a ransom attempt.

After not finding anything out of the ordinary in or outside of the hospital, the threat was deemed to not be credible and the facility went back to business as usual.
