GRAHAM COUNTY – On Sept. 24, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Graham County Communications received a call of an accident involving a Polaris vehicle approximately a quarter mile south of Purple C Ranch, on Klondyke Road. The 911 caller stated the driver was possibly deceased.
When Graham County Deputies, other law enforcement, and first responders arrived they found a male being assisted by others preforming CPR on the driver. Rescue efforts continued until the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The passenger in the Polaris told law enforcement he and the driver, later identified as James M. Holguin, age 26, of Safford, were traveling south on Klondyke Road when the Polaris left the dirt roadway and came to rest on its side. James Holguin was pinned under the Polaris and the passenger and another party who were riding their Razor type vehicle just ahead of James Holguin reportedly lifted the Polaris and started CPR. The passenger declined medical attention at the scene.
The Pima County Medical Examiner was notified, and an autopsy is scheduled, and the investigation continues. The family was notified by law enforcement of the incident. Alcohol is believed to be a possible factor.
