GRAHAM COUNTY – An inmate at the Graham County Adult Detention Facility received additional charges of promoting prison contraband and possession of a dangerous drug after methamphetamine was found in her property.

According to a Graham County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy was dispatched to the jail at about 5:19 a.m. on Tuesday after a corrections officer located methamphetamine in a plastic container while photographing the property of a woman who had just been admitted to the jail. The woman, Mckenzie Sanders, had been placed under arrest and booked into the jail on charges of possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia roughly three hours prior.

The deputy questioned Sanders and advised that she previously denied having any other drugs in her possession when she was booked into the jail. Sanders allegedly admitted the container was hers and that it was indeed meth inside. She said she didn’t realize she had it on her when she was arrested.

The drug was field-tested and came up positive for meth. Sanders was then given the additional charges of promoting prison contraband and possession of a dangerous drug.
