Greenlee County reports second positive COVID-19 test

New patient is household family member of initial case

GREENLEE COUNTY – While Greenlee County’s initial novel coronavirus COVID-19 case has reportedly recovered, a household family member has also now tested positive for the virus. 

The Greenlee County Health Department released the news Thursday evening regarding the positive test and said it continues to conduct investigations to identify any close contacts that may have been exposed while the positive person may have been infectious. Any individuals who are identified will be contacted directly by the health department. 

Graham County still has not reported any new cases since its initial outbreak was stopped in its tracks by the quick action of the Pima School District and Graham County Health Department. Those two cases, involving a fifth- and sixth-grade staff member and a student, were quarantined and have both fully recovered. As of Thursday afternoon, Graham County currently had three tests that are still pending.

Statewide the numbers continue to rise but at a slower pace than the previous two weeks. In total, there have been 3,113 reported positive tests with 97 deaths. 

Maricopa County continues to lead with the most cases at 1,741, followed by Pima County with 543, Navajo County – 287, Coconino County – 214, Pinal County – 138, Yavapai County – 62, Apache County – 55, Mohave County – 28, Yuma County – 16, Cochise County – 11, Santa Cruz County – 7, Yuma County – 4, Gila County – 2, Greenlee County – 2, Graham County – 2. (Greenlee’s second positive is not yet recorded on the state health department’s database as of Friday morning.)
