GILA COUNTY – The Gila County Oral Health Program would like to send a big thank you to all who helped make the Halloween Candy Exchange this year a success.

The event is a fun way for children to exchange their Halloween candy for a treat voucher, this year it was a Nacho and Cheese from Zona Ice!

The event aims to decrease the amount of sugar our children are consuming at Halloween and its harmful effects on their teeth.

In all, the Gila County Oral Health Program collected 17 pounds of candy that we were able to donate to a collection site for Soldier’s Angles Treats for Troops, which then takes the candy to distribute to troops serving at various bases and VA Hospitals in the USA.

Again, we would like to send a big thank you to Zona Ice, who generously donated the Nachos and Cheese treats for the exchange, and to the Globe Public Library for giving us a spot to host the event.

We can’t wait to do the event again next year and hope that you and your little one will participate in the exchange to not only have fun but also to help them have a healthy smile.
