Editorial: Joe’s border wall flip

Border wall near Yuma

Column By Mike Bibb

Since President Joe’s sudden revelation that the southern border wall project had money available to continue construction, it’s kind of perplexing why those funds were not used until now – after several million migrants have already ambled across.

And, continue to do so.

Oh, that’s right – “The border is closed,” Joe and his gang remind us nearly every day.

I’m not supposed to believe my lying eyes – evening news clips showing hundreds of people wading across the Rio Grande River are really some kind of cinematographic special effects.

Now, Joe (taxpayers) may have to repurchase new wall steel, concrete, and labor for construction resumption to compensate for his incompetency.  He previously sold Trump’s unused wall material for pennies on the dollar.

He’s quite the wheeler-dealer, especially with stuff that isn’t his.

On the very first day of his administration, January 20, 2020, Joe immediately halted all wall building and pledged “not another foot would be constructed” while he was president.

Since then, it’s estimated nearly seven million illegal immigrants — from all over the world — have journeyed into the Land of Eternal Freebees.

Adding to the confusion, no one really knows where over a million of these people – “gotaways” – have disappeared to, or what their intentions are.

For certain, they didn’t all didn’t come to America to clean hotel rooms, trim shrubs, pick lettuce, or sell street tacos.

Likewise, I haven’t heard any government official explain why a large percentage of migrants are single, young men – about military age.

Almost three years later, Joe had another Epiphany indicating he had no choice but to resume wall construction in the Eagle Pass, Texas area.

The wall funds were mandated during the Trump era.  But, only twenty miles of new fence will be added.

Let’s see, 20 miles within a 2000-mile-long border equals 1/100th of the distance.

Yep, there’s still plenty of room to get through.  Come on in.

There’s an added benefit to the new wall reversal policy — when handed a chili, make salsa.

Which is probably what Joe will do.

With this bit of good fortune, he can proclaim on the 2024 campaign trail “See, I really tried to stop the wall and keep the border open, but prior legislation forced me to resume building.  It’s not my fault.”

Actually, in spite of Joe’s awkward attempt to appeal to his socialist-liberal base, chaos along the border is more intense than ever.  Thousands of trespassers a day are entering the country, virtually unimpeded.

Major cities can no longer financially support the influx of foreigners into their sanctuary environs.

The fun is gone, and reality has set in.  There’s simply not enough money to pay for these pie-in-the-sky schemes.

Prodding the reader with a jolt of sanity — “Socialism is great until the money runs out.”

Then what?

We’re seeing the results of these disastrous Biden Administration decisions.

Obviously, Joe doesn’t possess the mental aptitude, awareness, or economic expertise to realize what’s going on.  He simply mimics what his handlers have told him.

Or, so it appears.

We’re led to believe he inexplicably recognized the need for renewed fence construction after steadfastly denying it for several years.

I doubt it.  Not even Joe can put lipstick on that pig and expect anyone to buy it.  He’s a politician, not a magician.

His entire multi-decade public service career has been a continuous performance of spinning and weaving yarns and bogus tales in order to self-promote his assumed importance.

At that time, his record of accomplishments was minimal.  Joe’s lived on the government payroll for about fifty years.  He isn’t qualified to do anything else.

So, why should we be surprised by his insistence that construction on the southern border wall be restarted?

Because he said so?  Get serious.

Joe’s a lifelong partisan Democrat party member and 2024 is an election year.  The playbook doesn’t ever waiver: Tell the people what they want to hear.  Pandering to votes is the game, regardless if he really believes his own b.s.

However, if public opinion polls are accurate, fewer and fewer folks are swallowing his line of doo-doo.  Including Democrats.  His lies and distortions are no longer resonating with the majority of the electorate.

There comes a point when deceptions reach a limit.  At 81 years of age, it appears time has run out for Uncle Joe.

Mounting legal troubles could soon derail any possibility of a comfortable, wealthy retirement.  If just half the wacky stuff Congress is digging up is true, Joe’s in for a rough ride in the future.

Maybe he, and Trump, can wink and wish each other good luck as they pass in the hallways of a federal courthouse.

So far, the FBI and DOJ haven’t found any piles of cash or other ill-gotten valuables hidden within Trump’s home.

On the other hand, a Congressional committee investigating Joe and his son, Hunter, has uncovered a bundle of documents, including bank transfers, emails, phone calls, money laundering schemes, and other assorted records showing Biden’s involvement in various foreign intrigues have benefited him with many millions of dollars.

Joe says he doesn’t know anything about these things.

Evidence indicates otherwise – as we’ll be finding out in the near future.
