LUKEVILLE – Casa Grande Border Patrol agents apprehended a previously deported Mexican national with a violent criminal history after he illegally entered the U.S. east of Lukeville on Saturday afternoon.

Agents patrolling on dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles tracked a group for more than nine miles before locating and arresting 10 individuals, all illegally present in the U.S.

During processing, agents discovered one of the individuals, 25-year old Silvestre Verdugo-Valles, has a violent criminal history. Verdugo’s criminal history includes armed robbery with a deadly weapon in Phoenix, for which he was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison.

Verdugo now faces felony criminal prosecution for re-entry of a felon. The remaining nine men arrested in the group were processed for immigration violations.

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
