NOGALES – U.S. Border Patrol agents patrolling near Nogales arrested a man Wednesday afternoon, who had an active warrant for two counts of raping a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child in Spanish Fork, Utah.
The 30-year-old Mexican man was present in the United States illegally. During processing, agents learned the man had a warrant from the Sheriff’s Office in Spanish Fork.
The man will be extradited to Utah to face charges for his alleged crimes and will be processed for immigration removal after state charges are adjudicated.
Tucson Sector Border Patrol continues to encounter individuals crossing the border with the intent of surrendering to the first Border Patrol agent they see. Simultaneously the Border Patrol is seeing individuals in camouflage clothing and wearing carpet booties attempting to evade law enforcement.
All persons apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
