SAFFORD – The Safford Police Department Teen Academy is gearing up for its upcoming session, offering local high school students a unique, hands-on opportunity to explore the world of law enforcement. Scheduled to run from June 1-5, this week-long program will take place each evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Safford Police Department, located at 523 S. 10th Avenue, Safford, AZ.
Billed as a chance to “level up,” the Teen Academy provides participants with practical experiences, valuable leadership development, and an insider’s perspective on policing. Teens will engage in interactive activities that simulate real aspects of law enforcement work, helping them build skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and responsibility while gaining a clearer understanding of what officers do every day.
The program is open to motivated students who meet the following qualifications:
- Ages 14–18
- Cumulative grade average of “C” or higher
- Currently enrolled in a local high school
- In possession of a school ID
- No criminal history or current probation status
This initiative builds on the success of previous Teen Academies hosted by the Safford Police Department, which have given area youth memorable, educational experiences and helped foster positive relationships between teens and law enforcement.
Applications are available now for pickup at the Safford Police Department. The deadline to apply is May 22, 2026. Space is limited, so interested students are encouraged to act quickly.
