The volunteer Pima Fire Department deployed multiple trucks and were joined at the scene by the Pima Police Department, Lifeline Ambulance, and at least one Safford Police officer. Southwest Gas was staged at a main residence but there didn’t appear to be any utilities connected to the camp trailer.

Pima firefighters knocked down the blaze and contained it to a single camp trailer. The trailer was located in the 700 block of S. Main Street, roughly 50 yards to the east of the main road, in the back of a residence with other trailers nearby.

According to Pima Fire Chief Terry Earp, the resident had a campfire outside the trailer to help keep warm, and it somehow spread to nearby grass. The grass, in turn, caught the camp trailer on fire.

The fire was first seen around 9 a.m. and was completely doused by about 10 a.m.
