80-year-old man dies while fishing at Dankworth Pond

GRAHAM COUNTY – An 80-year-old man fell into Dankworth Pond on Saturday morning and died. 

According to Graham County Dispatch notes, authorities were informed of the situation at about 8 a.m. 

The deceased man was identified as Autry Pennington. While fishing, Pennington fell into the pond.

Pennington was helped out of the pond and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed, however, it was not successful in reviving him. Pennington reportedly had a triple bypass in either 2001 or 2002 according to statements a relative made to the Sheriff’s Office, however, he was in otherwise good health for his age, according to the relative.  

An autopsy will be performed by the Pima County Office of Medical Examiner.
