GRAHAM COUNTY – A woman going through a divorce called authorities to report her husband for posting what she believed was “revenge porn” on the popular social media app TikTok.
However, upon inspection of a photograph of a screenshot of the purported video, a deputy determined the picture not to be pornographic and advised the woman to seek an order of protection against her estranged husband that could include special instructions regarding social media.
The woman advised she was separated from her husband and getting a divorce. After an argument, she noticed he had posted a video of her on TikTok that she said showed her “naked body.”
When asked to elaborate on what was exposed, the woman advised that TikTok had already taken the video down at her request, but she had taken a screenshot and produced a picture for the deputy. The deputy described the picture as being from the mid-back, with the subject in a seated position and an emoji of a stick and feather covering her rear.
The deputy then advised that due to her description of the video and the screenshot she saved, the video was not pornographic in nature. The woman said she was worried because her husband said he would post additional photos of her undressed and said she didn’t like her “bedroom stuff” posted on social media.
The deputy advised the woman to seek the order of protection to help prevent that from occurring.
