SAFFORD – Krisha Lynn Granatowski, 28, was arrested and booked into the Graham County Adult Detention Facility on charges including possession of a narcotic drug for sale after being found with multiple baggies of heroin during a traffic stop Tuesday, Nov. 19.

According to a Safford Police report, an officer was westbound in the 400 block of E. U.S. Highway 70 at about 2 p.m. when he noticed a red SUV pulling a trailer eastbound with nonfunctioning brake or turning lights on the trailer.

The officer turned around and followed the SUV as it turned northbound onto Entertainment Avenue and made a traffic stop.

The officer learned that the driver, identified as Ronda Wells-Collier, did not have a current driver’s license and that she had inadvertently forgotten to plug in the cable to power the trailer’s lights. The officer informed Wells-Collier that she would receive a warning for her infractions.

Believing that one of the passengers in the car, identified as Granatowski, was acting too nervous about the situation. After receiving permission to search a backpack Granatowski advised was hers, the officer located a syringe, metal spoon with apparent drug residue, and a plastic baggie with a small piece of a what appeared to be black tar heroin.

After the discovery, Granatowski admitted to having more heroin hidden on her person and a female officer was called to perform a more thorough search. The search yielded 10 individually packaged seals each with a small amount of black tar heroin and each marked with the amount it was for sale. The female officer advised the heroin was found hidden in Granatowski’s underwear.

The black tar substance tested positive for heroin and Granatowski was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a narcotic drug (heroin), possession of a narcotic drug (heroin) for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Granatowski also had a charge of child abuse filed against her Nov. 12 in a separate case.

Wells-Collier called for someone to come get her vehicle and she was giving a written warning for driving without a valid driver’s license. A second passenger was searched and after no contraband was found on him was released at the scene along with Wells-Collier and the SUV.
