BYLAS – A man reported being assaulted by his wife outside of Red’s convenience store just east of the San Carlos Apache Reservation on Feb. 24, in which his wife attempted to bite off his ear.

The alleged assailant, identified as Garilyn Sue Stanley, 30, of Bylas, allegedly bit her husband’s ear after getting into an argument accusing him of infidelity while the pair were at the convenience store.

The couple then got into their car and drove onto the San Carlos Apache Reservation, where the victim said Garilyn crashed into a barbed-wire fence in a wash and kept driving. The victim advised he was in the passenger seat because he was intoxicated. After the car finally came to a stop, he said Garilyn continued punching him in his face.

The victim, who eventually ran away from his attacker, was taken to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

A San Carlos Police officer arrived at the crash site, but Garilyn had run off into the desert prior to his arrival. The Graham County Sheriff’s Office deputy informed the San Carlos Police officer that he would write up a report and recommend charges of assault and aggravated assault against Garilyn to the Graham County Attorney’s Office. The officer advised he would attempt to find Garilyn and give the Sheriff’s Office her statement when they do.
