SAFFORD – It was the eighth multi-meet attended, the third meet of the month, the third time on the same course, and another opportunity to improve for the Morenci golf team this season.

“We had the lowest team score since I began coaching the team,” seventh-year head coach David Gonzales said.

Morenci topped Benson 178-209. Three schools were represented during the April 19 meet, but one was a player short of having a full team.

Additionally, junior Joshua Medina carded a personal best 39 or three under for the par 36 Mount Graham 9-hole course. He was one under in the 355-yard one hole, at par in four holes, and one over in the other four holes.

For the Bobcats, freshman Bianka Goerke was five over with a 41, senior Logan Garza 47, senior Kayleanna Dallaportes 57, and junior Sebastian Pajak 64. Benson fifth player freshman Jackson Garza had a 69.
