MORENCI – The Tucson San Miguel Catholic Vipers enter Wildcat Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and as do the Willcox Cowgirls on Friday, Jan. 10. Morenci visits the Pima Roughriders on Thursday, Jan. 9. The San Miguel game is a region pairing.
Other region pairings for South Region members this week (Jan. 6-11) include Desert Christian at Tombstone, Willcox at Benson, and Saint Augustine Catholic at Santa Rita on Jan. 7; Bisbee at Tombstone, Saint Augustine at Willcox, and Santa Rita at San Miguel on Jan. 9; and Benson at Tombstone on Jan. 10.
The non-region parings include Gilbert Leading Edge at Bisbee on Jan. 7, Benson at Saint David on Jan. 9, Saint Augustine at Empire on Jan. 10, and San Miguel at Kearny Ray on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Region standing through Jan. 4 were Tombstone (6-0 seeding, 1-0 region) first, Bisbee (3-3, 1-0) second, Willcox (4-0, 0-0) third, Tucson Saint Augustine Catholic (4-1, 0-0) fourth, Tucson Santa Rita (2-5, 0-0) fifth, Benson (3-2, 0-0) sixth, Morenci (3-2, 0-1) seventh, Tucson San Miguel Catholic (0-8, 0-0) eight, and Tucson Desert Christian (3-4, 0-1) ninth.
Region wins have been for Tombstone over Morenci (40-33, Dec. 16) and Bisbee over Desert Christian (42-40, Dec. 19).
San Miguel Vipers (0-8)
San Miguel (0-8 seeding, 0-0 2A South Region) is averaging a score of 21-60 (171-480) per seeding game or a 39-point deficit. The Roy Corona-coached Roughriders have seeding wins over Benson (59-25, Dec. 3), Eagar Round Valley (52-22, Dec. 7), Lakeside Blue Ridge (46-18, Dec. 9), and Safford (61-15, Dec. 17).
