SAFFORD – With summer running down and school just around the corner, the Victory Fellowship Church and Community Empowerment Organization will hold one last party event Saturday with its free Family Fun Day/Carnival and concert.  After the festivities Saturday, return to the church Sunday to receive a backpack full of school supplies.

The event will take place at the church’s property at 555 Entertainment Ave. and will run from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  and will feature various games and prizes for children, along with a drawing every 10 minutes for very special prizes. There will also be a large waterslide and hotdogs, soda, and water for all attendees. The best part is, according to Greg St. Hilaire, is that everything is free.

Hilaire said they wanted to have one last big bash before students have to go back to school and that the event is put on to “bless the community.”

The event will also feature booths by multiple churches and businesses and will have a helicopter from LifeNet and a fire truck from the Safford Fire Department on display.

The evening will feature a free concert by “Rank” and “Good Companie” and will start at 6 p.m.

Backpack Giveaway

On Sunday, the church will be giving away 480 backpacks filled with school supplies on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 10:30 a.m.
