State, county and local dignitaries will be at Valley TeleCom’s Willcox office Friday, Feb. 28, for a press event announcing the launch of Gigabit Internet service in Willcox.

Using its state-of-the-art fiber-optic network, Valley TeleCom is bringing the fastest Internet speeds available to rural Arizona.  Valley TeleCom already has a fiber-optic connection straight to homes, schools, and businesses in some communities and plans to provide Gigabit Internet to their entire DSL serving area within the next five years.

“These types of unlimited Internet speeds are sorely needed in many areas of our state, especially in rural communities such as Willcox”, said Valley TeleCom CEO Steve Metts.  “Providing communities with cutting edge services like this only enriches our area and gives rural towns an equal footing with much larger cities in the digital arena.”

The speakers for the event are:

  • Arizona Governor’s Policy Advisor for Transportation & Technology Innovation Ben Blink;
  • Arizona State Representative for LD 14 Becky Nutt;
  • Willcox City Manager Caleb Blaschke;
  • Valley TeleCom CEO Steve Metts;

The press event will start at 11 a.m. at Valley TeleCom’s meeting room, 752 E. Maley St. in Willcox.
