U.S. Forest Service gives final update on small fires on Mount Graham

MOUNT GRAHAM – Two fires smoldering on Mount Graham are either 100 percent contained or in monitor-only mode.

The High Peak Fire was listed at roughly a quarter acre and was started by a lightning strike on July 28. It is burning in steep inaccessible terrain and is being monitored through including by drone footage that shows overnight infrared images of minimal heat. 

No movement is expected from the fire but smoke may continue to be seen as it is burning dead snags from the 2017 Frye Fire. 

The Clark Fire started by a lightning strike on Aug. 1 and was contained to a single tree the same day.
