Two more COVID-19 deaths in Greenlee County

GREENLEE COUNTY – On Monday night, the Greenlee County Health Department announced two additional deaths attributed to COVID-19. 

The additional deaths give the county four in less than a week and 20 for the course of the pandemic. 

The most recent deaths were that of a Clifton-area resident in their 40s and a Duncan-area resident in their 80s. 

For the course of the pandemic, Greenlee County has had nine COVID-19 deaths from the Duncan area, seven from the Clifton area, and four from the Morenci area. 

Along with the new casualties, the health department also listed eight new confirmed cases. 

As of Monday night, Greenlee County has had 1,386 total cases, with 1,164 recoveries, 202 currently active cases, and 20 deaths, for a death rate of 1.44 percent of confirmed cases. The statewide death-rate average is 1.77 percent, and Graham County’s is 1.51 percent. 

Greenlee remains the county with the lowest number of COVID-19 cases and the lowest percentage of COVID-19 cases per population with a rate of 12,896 per 100,000 population.
