THATCHER — The Jets, a Grammy-nominated family band that topped the charts in the 1980s with hits like “Crush on You,” “You Got It All,” and “Make It Real,” will perform live at Eastern Arizona College’s Fine Arts Auditorium on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. Proceeds from this event will go to scholarships for Polynesian students attending EAC.

Discovered in Minneapolis, The Jets is comprised of brothers and sisters who hit the music scene as teenagers and soared straight to the top of the charts. Originally from the island kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific, The Jets have an international appeal, attracting fans from all over the world.

“This production is perfect for all ages and ties in with our scholarship fundraising activities for Polynesian students,” said Todd Haynie, EAC president. “Nearly 700 Pacific Island students have attended EAC over the past 20 years. Proceeds from this event will help even more islanders enroll at EAC to prepare for lifetime success.”

Originally comprised of eight members from a Tongan family of 17 brothers and sisters, The Jets had eight top-10 hits on the dance, pop, R&B, and adult contemporary charts. Their debut studio album went platinum in 1985 and their songs are still in rotation on radio stations across America today.

Admission to The Jets is $20 – $30. There is a discount for full-time EAC students with ID. For tickets, visit EAC’s website at www.eac.edu and click “get tickets.” A sellout is anticipated, but any remaining tickets will be available at the door.
