THATCHER — In a proud moment for Thatcher athletics and girls’ wrestling across the region, local standout Addison Stone has earned selection to the Arizona National Dual Team, becoming the only girl from the Gila Valley chosen for the squad.
“This is a big deal for a female and for a small community like ours,” said her proud mother.
Stone, a Thatcher High School wrestler, was drafted for the 100-pound weight class during the Junior National Junior Team Draft Day on Saturday, May 2.
A two-time state placer, Stone has qualified for the state tournament every year since her 8th-grade season. This year, she placed fourth at the 2026 Arizona Division II girls state wrestling championship and, according to Flowrestling, went 37-9 in the 2025-26 season, increasing her overall high school record to 102-42. Her consistent excellence and determination have made her a role model for young athletes in the Gila Valley and beyond.

Stone will represent Arizona at the 2026 Women’s Duals in Westfield, Indiana, this June, competing at the 100-pound level. She will then travel to Fargo, North Dakota, in July for the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals, where she’ll compete at 105 pounds.
Selection to the national dual team puts Stone among Arizona’s elite junior wrestlers and offers her the chance to compete against top talent from across the country. The Women’s Duals emphasize team competition and national representation, while the Junior Nationals in Fargo rank among the largest and most competitive events for rising stars in the sport.
Thatcher High School and the local wrestling community are rallying behind Stone as she prepares for these national opportunities. Her success continues to inspire the next generation of female wrestlers in the area.
Congratulations, Addison! The entire Thatcher community is cheering you on as you head to Indiana and North Dakota this summer. Keep representing Thatcher with pride.
