THATCHER – Shelbi Skinner, 23, of Thatcher, was arrested and booked into Graham County on Tuesday, Dec. 3, on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The charges stem from a domestic violence incident that involved Skinner and her boyfriend in which she allegedly discharged a firearm inside a residence in the 3000 block of W. Bingham Street.

Officers were dispatched to the residence at about 10:07 p.m. after Graham County Dispatch received a 911 text. When the dispatcher called, they could hear a male and female arguing about a gun and almost being shot. However, upon arrival, officers didn’t notice anything unusual.

After repeated attempts to reach the occupants inside, a male exited the residence and advised everything was fine. According to the police report, the man was bleeding from a large bump on his forehead and had a laceration to the back of his arm that possibly was a graze wound from a bullet round.

The male said he had injured his head when he hit it on a door and that there was no incident between him and his girlfriend, Skinner. When asked about the gunshot, the male said it was an accidental discharge that happened when Skinner dropped it while cleaning. The officer reported the male made multiple different statements regarding the incident and wouldn’t allow officers to photograph any of his injuries.

Skinner was interviewed by detectives at the scene, who photographed the area, including a bullet hole. Investigators also collected casings and a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol.

Skinner was then arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
