SAFFORD — During the festive holiday season, the Safford Police Department and Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition would like to remind the public to recreate safely and to always plan on having designated drivers for seasonal festivities.

As a reminder, the SPD is partnering with the Eastern Arizona DUI task force and the Substance Abuse Coalition to hold a highly visible, family-friendly parking lot part in front of Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The parking lot party will encourage revelers to “Be Bright, Drive Right” to have a safe and fun holiday season by ensuring that those who operate motor vehicles are sober and showing the possible consequences of impaired driving.

Jon Johnson File Photo/Gila Herald: The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition will present DUI information at the event. This file photo is from a past mock DUI event at EAC.

In addition to the educational information, there will be free family activities, a Kool-Aid party for teens, and an appearance by the big man himself, Santa Claus.

So, if you are finishing up holiday shopping, be sure to stop by the Walmart parking lot on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. for a family-friendly and informational event – and don’t forget to tell Santa what you want for Christmas.
