GLOBE – Skate into the New Year – not on the ice, but on a skating rink with a slippery surface set up in the Old Dominion parking lot Friday afternoon from 3–7 p.m. as part of Globe’s First Friday fun.
Skating will be at the same place as the food truck roundup at the corner of Pine and Sycamore – with a selection of skates and sizes available – all free!
Safety First, though – expect a limit on how many people are allowed on the “ice” at a time for participants’ safety.
Globe’s First Friday of the New Year is Jan. 3 on Broad Street, Oak Street, and throughout Downtown Globe from 3 to 7 p.m.
An evening packed with family fun includes live music by Reuben Gonzales with DJ Meeks. The Broad Street Cruise begins near 5, and don’t miss the variety of vendors along Oak Street. Business specials include a bean burro, enchilada, and rice for $8.50 at La Casita Cafe, large popcorn for the price of a medium at Hollis Theater, and 25 percent off all purchases at Pretty Kind Boutique.
