SAFFORD – Six new cases on the San Carlos Apache Tribe Reservation and one new case in Thatcher have pushed Graham County’s positive COVID-19 tests to 55.

“Since Arizona lifted its stay-at-home order on May 15, COVID-19 cases have increased considerably reaching record highs,” said Graham County Health Director Brian Douglas. “Graham County is also experiencing a rise in cases.. We are asking our residents to take extra precautions, social distance, wear face masks when in public, and stay home as much as possible.”

The ages of the cases in Graham County include 12 under the age of 20, six 21-34 years old, 22 35-60 years old, and 15 who are 65 years old or older.

As of Monday night, Graham County has tested 986 people with 166 pending lab results due to the recent testing blitz held Saturday at Canyonlands Healthcare.

General things that everyone should do to prevent the spread of all respiratory illnesses include:

●  Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

●  Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

●  Stay home when you are sick.

●  Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

●  Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular EPA registered household cleaning spray or wipes.

●  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

●  Wear a facemask when in public.

●  When shopping, limit the number of people who you take with you. If possible, pick one person from your household to do the shopping.
