SAFFORD – The hottest ticket in town this summer is the JD3 Fitness Summer Youth Camp 2023 designed to keep your kids mentally engaged and physically moving over summer break. Click here to sign up now.  

Want your kids to get outside and enjoy some physical activity? Well, this summer JD3 Fitness has partnered up with some of the best activity coordinators to offer a summer camp that highlights some of the Gila Valley’s most popular youth-based businesses. The classes are designed for youth ages 5-9 for one group and 10-14 for a second group.  

Class 1 – Camp Orientation at Airborne

The first day of camp will be May 30 and will be held at Airborne, a new parkour and trampoline facility south of Safford at 3822 S. U.S. Highway 191. Owner Justin Collins will be on hand to showcase the new facility. 

Class Times: 5-9 age group: 3 – 5 p.m.; 10-14 age group: 5 – 7 p.m. 

Class 2 – Sinew Athletics with Ernesto Llamas

The second Class of camp will be held June 2 at the Graham County Fairgrounds. Strength and conditioning coach Ernesto Llamas will hold a class highlighting his upcoming eight-week training program beginning June 5. His program is designed for a wide variety of ages and specializes in sports-specific fitness training and mobility. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 8 – 9:15 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 9:30 – 11 a.m.

Class 3 – Basketball Camp

For Class three, kids will learn the fundamentals of basketball on June 5 through drills and competitions. The location is to be determined. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 9 – 10-30 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 

Class 4 – Desert Dogs Wrestling with Philip Ornelas and Manny Jurado

For the fourth class of camp, we will be visiting Desert Dogs Wrestling in Safford at 801 S. Central Ave. on June 9. Founders Philip Ornelas and Manny Jurado will lead classes to showcase the hottest wrestling club in the Gila Valley. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 3 – 4 p.m.; 10-14 age group: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. 

Class 5 – Soccer with John Archuleta

The fifth class of camp will go back to the Graham County Fairgrounds on June 15 where John Archuleta will lead us in a fun-packed day showcasing the fundamentals of soccer through technique and drills. Each participant will receive their own soccer ball. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 8 – 9:15 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 9:30 -11 a.m. 

Class 6 Competitive Cornhole

Let the beanbags fly with some competitive cornhole in class six on June 19, all ages, from 9-11 a.m.

Class 7 – Extreme Karate Martial Arts with Chad Jones

For class seven, Chad Jones will be giving special instruction to the martial arts at 514 W. 7th St. on June 21. One lucky participant will have a chance to receive a free three-month membership. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 9 – 10:30 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Class 8 – Basketball Day Camp

For class eight, kids will learn the fundamentals of basketball on June 28 through drills and competitions. The location is to be determined. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 9 – 10-30 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 

Class 9 – Parkour at Airborne

Learn the proper techniques from the Gila Valley’s best. The class will be on July 1 and ages 5-9 will be from 8-9 a.m. and ages 10-14 will be from 9-10 a.m. at 3822 S. U.S. Highway 191. 

Class 10 – Competitive Cornhole

Let the beanbags fly with some competitive cornhole in class 10 on July 3, all ages, from 9-11 a.m.

Class 11 – DeKeuster’s Gymnastics with Sarah McDougal

For class 11, DeKeuster’s Gymnastics owner Sarah McDougal will showcase one of the Gila Valley’s hottest attractions in her facility on July 5 and give kids an introductory class into gymnastics and tumbling. The class will be at the gymnastics studio at 2281 W. Thatcher Blvd. in Thatcher. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 2 – 3 p.m.; 10-14 age group: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. 

Class 12 – Soccer with John Archuleta

The 12th class of camp will go back to the Graham County Fairgrounds on July 12 where John Archuleta will lead us in a fun-packed day showcasing the fundamentals of soccer through technique and drills. Each participant will receive their own soccer ball. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 8 – 9:15 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 9:30 -11 a.m. 

Class 13 – Football

Class 13 will be held at the Graham County Fairgrounds on July 19, and Cody Taylor will show basic drills and fun competitions designed to teach the importance of teamwork. Participants will be separated by age for safety. 

Class times: 5-9 age group: 8 – 9:15 a.m.; 10-14 age group: 9:30 – 11 a.m. 

Class 14 – Summer Send-Off Party at Airborne

We will end our summer camp on July 24 with a summer send-off party at Airborne at 3822 S. U.S. Highway 191. 

The party will be for all summer camp participants and will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

Pricing

Pricing is $200 for a camper who attends eight or more classes with each additional child at $175. Or campers who attend seven classes or less pay just $125 with each additional camper at $100.
