PIMA – A man who believed a vacuum he ordered from Amazon was delivered to his previous address was arrested after entering and searching that residence without permission from the current occupants.

Russell Derek Rapier, 28, was arrested and booked into the Graham County Jail on charges of burglary and criminal trespass on Aug. 8. He was later formally charged with criminal trespass in the first degree on Aug. 13.

According to a Pima Police report, Russell had previously gone to the home off 500 South and asked the current residents if Amazon had delivered a vacuum cleaner he had ordered. Rapier said Amazon advised it had been delivered to the residence.

The occupants denied receiving Rapier’s package and said they were not home when the package was said to be delivered. At that time Rapier called the Pima Police and a report was made.

Three days later the resident was home alone and was shocked when she exited her bathroom and found Rapier. The occupant said she yelled at the intruder and Rapier fled outside to his Honda minivan and then sped away recklessly.

An officer located Rapier at his residence a short distance away and after initially denying entering the home Rapier allegedly admitted doing so because he thought they were lying about having his vacuum cleaner.

Rapier also advised he had his infant son with him during his caper and had left him in the minivan when he entered the residence looking for the vacuum.

Rapier was then booked into jail.
