San Carlos Apaches Host ‘Shark Tank’ $5,000 business competition

SAN CARLOS – Starting last January, staff of the San Carlos Apache Tribe General Manager’s office  teamed up with the Apache College on an innovative business development workshop series, which included free evening classes such as ‘Entrepreneurship: Learn What it Takes to Start a business,’ that continued with night school topics devoted to creating a business plan, researching the market and your competition, and marketing.

San Carlos Apache tribal members with a dream of launching a new business have until Monday, June 17 to submit a completed business plan in order to be invited to a June 25 competition modeled on the popular Shark Tank TV series, where aspiring business owners compete to lure investors to back their businesses. 

A total of $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winner, or winners, following the June 25 competition at Apache Gold Casino’s Convention Center. The competition will start at 9 a.m. Participants must be enrolled members of the Tribe, and submit a complete business plan to the General Manager’s office by June 17 then be ready to “present your business plan to the panel of sharks”.
