SAN CARLOS — Nearly three months after a fatal stabbing in the Bylas District, San Carlos Apache Police detectives have taken a suspect into custody on a federal warrant for second-degree murder.

DreDonte Pike was arrested on Thursday, May 28, at approximately 2 p.m. at a residence on North Road. According to the San Carlos Apache Police Department, detectives conducting surveillance observed Pike outside the residence, then made contact with him and took him into custody without incident.

The arrest stems from a stabbing that occurred on March 5, 2026, at approximately 1:11 a.m. in the Navajo Point Community of the Bylas District. The incident resulted in the death of one individual, identified by authorities as a tribal member. Pike was named as the suspect in the case.

Police said they served a federal arrest warrant for second-degree murder during the operation.

In a statement, the San Carlos Apache Police Department said it “remains committed to seeking justice for victims of violent crimes and holding offenders accountable,” and thanked its officers and detectives for their work.
