SAFFORD – The Safford City-Graham County Library is inviting community members of all ages to dig deep into their imaginations with Safford’s Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story”, from June 1 through July 16.
“Our Summer Reading Program is designed to give the community, and especially the kids, quality activities to keep them thinking, reading, and having fun, all helping to avoid losing those math and reading skills they work so hard on during the school year,” said Assistant Library Director Lesley Talley.
This summer will feature several events, ranging from cooking classes to science shows to storytime. Back by popular demand, two summer favorites, indoor minigolf and an escape room, will return in July. Other highlights include the Places of America Art Contest, where residents of all ages are encouraged to submit landscapes done in any medium. Contest rules can be found here.
Throughout the summer, participants can track their reading minutes using the Beanstack app and earn pool passes, state park passes, and other goodies, as well as tickets for grand prize drawings.
All Summer Reading activities are free and open to the public, as space allows.
Library Director Victoria Silva encourages everyone to “Stop by the library, participate in one of our 70+ summer programs, and see what we have to offer!”
